Our backdoor is shorter than a normal sized screen door, and it doesn't have a porch overhead. We needed a custom-sized, sturdy screen door to keep the snow out and let the summer breeze in.
 
We can build these solid-wood screen doors to match any decor, and with many options available. Ours has a slot behind the screen to insert a piece of plexiglass in the wintertime, and the frame doubles as a mount for a box fan in the summer time. This design, with a solid bottom and 2x4 or 2x6 frame runs about $850. A more basic, lightweight (1x2), full screen-door runs about $450.
